Here is a picture my mascot Ben Zene wears in his shirt pocket. It is a reminder of how my councilman made fun of my concerns with blowouts in my neighborhood near the Cowboy Stadium. In last night’s coverage on WFAA news, the owner of a strip joint alledged that my councilman (I am in his district) asked him to get someone to rough up a bar patron bad mouthing him….so do I need to worry about any threats coming my way by posting these (unconfirmed) comments below that started with this Advocate newsclipping?
Read these comments and decide for yourself. The only comments in my control were the ones I made.

Here is the cut and paste of the article ….
“Arlington City Councilman Mel LeBlanc recently responded to a constituent’s concerns about gas drilling in the city by making a joke about gay sex, according to e-mails obtained by Instant Tea.
LeBlanc couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
According to copies of the e-mails, Arlington residents Ken and Kim Feil sent LeBlanc a copy of an article from The Advocate, a newspaper in Baton Rouge, La., about an oil and gas well blowout in that state. Arlington is considering changes to its gas drilling ordinance.
LeBlanc, who reportedly supports gas drilling, responded to the Feils’ e-mail by saying he thought The Advocate was a national gay publication — which it is; there is more than one Advocate — and asking what this has to do with “drilling holes in the … .” Then LeBlanc added, “oh, wait, I see” in an apparent attempt at humor. Here’s the e-mail:

So, should we be offended by this bad juvenile joke? From a gay standpoint, probably not. But if we were the Feils we’d probably be a little annoyed that LeBlanc is making light of their concerns about gas drilling. We’d say LeBlanc’s e-mail might also raise the question of how he knows about the gay Advocate.
We spoke with Kim Feil about the e-mail on Friday, and she said LeBlanc has already called her to apologize. But Feil, who calls herself an environmental activist, said based on her past experience with LeBlanc, she wasn’t surprised by his joke.
“It was expected,” Feil said. “He just evades facing the issues. He’s pretty consistent with being offensive.”
UPDATE: LeBlanc has posted a response in the comments below.”

Mel LeBlancPosted on September 4, 2010 at 3:13 pm“…….I am a happily married, practicing Catholic, straight, male-pushing-60 businessman……. my presumed disregard for the environmental concerns of the Feils. I am presently addressing my bad joke, and since as I type Ms. Feil is having a field-day on FaceBook, I think addressing the “disregard” allegation would only add to her diatribe…… “

MichaelPosted on September 7, 2010 at 12:07 pmTypical political response to the original issue. Evasion. But the joke was funny.

Kim FeilPosted on October 2, 2010 at 3:39 pmDamage control for the mayor or senate bound? U don’t stand a chance Mel. Last Tues at the City Council meeting someone else took the time to call you an ostrich. The public can’t be fooled-people do have jerk radar.

JasonPosted on December 3, 2010 at 6:53 pmWhy don’t we address the issue he is VERY familiar with these magazines and sites. As well as is VERY familiar with BackPage.com and soliciting the young men in personal ads to come to his house in his personal sauna his wife Candy made for him after offering them pot. Wait, did you miss the married thing? Apparently he did too when he solicited these young men. To top it off he has his personal attorney contact the young men afterward threatening to sue them if they go public with this info if he is found out. Brilliant Mel. Brilliant.

Ray FarmerPosted on December 3, 2010 at 8:54 pmJason, do tell. Have you been threatened? Someone who does this kind of thing needs to be exposed.

http://www.barnettshalenews.com/documents/2010/Guest%20Editorial%20Mel%20LeBlanc%206-28-2010.pdf He also posted my picture in the Oil and Gas magazine when he did an editorial in favor of drilling and going too far in calling to action against the likes of me and others who cherish air quality.

If Jason’s post is true, then maybe Mel is a target for blackmail from his lifestyle choices. Who else may be out there blackmailing him? Could this explain why he is so pro-drilling? Is it possible that maybe some thug from the oil and gas industry is blackmailing him too?
If it turns out that the industry has bad people blackmailing Mel into YES votes for gas wells…how can the citizens feel that Councilman LeBlanc is voting honestly?
For me to even be asking these types of question render Councilman LeBlanc in my opinion unfit for office if he has a tendency to either make himself blackmail-able or allegedly threatening to others whether physically or financially.
I asked the City Attorney, Mr Doegey, what the process is for asking for my Councilman’s resignation. I emailed Mel today that I’ll run against him if no one else does.
