Subject: offensive remark on Facebook by Anne Thornton reprimand requested
Anne Stahel Thornton How about all of this “brain power” go to college, get a degree in chemical engineering and figure out an alternative, renewable fuel???? As long as you guys are protesting, NOTHING is improving! Electric cars will never be practical since the energy to recharge comes from fossil fuels. Go get a science degree and make a positive change…
Dear Principal Jarvish,
While I am a free speech advocate, I am about to create a nationwide petition to have your science teacher face a reprimand.
I attended this (peaceful protest blockade)training session that your teacher commented on Facebook about and have to say that alot of these kids have degrees (myself included). And for those that do not may not be able to afford to go (to college which doesn’t guarantee jobs-just debt) some have taped their shoes from falling apart and may struggle with having basic necessities.
I want to impart that for those that have jobs, assets, careers…anything that risking arrest could jeopardize have put everything on the line because of their conviction that the earth must come first over corporate profits.
Those that have no assets, cannot get a job, or a job gets in the way of protesting important issues are our real heroes. They risk police brutalities (even death), corporate law suits, police records, and real jail time if no bond is met.
They are doing the necessary, last ditch effort work because we have run out of time. Offering the public the choice for sustainable energy choices has been ignored for over thirty years now. Making them affordable and available has been thwarted by big gas and oil lobbyists and that is not a secret.
The technologies for sustainable energy sources do exist and yes more can be invented, but to say that these people at this peaceful protest training session should all go and study science and come up with a solution AND have the corporations buy into an end to their old school fossil fuel addiction shows that your teacher is out of touch with reality and does not represent your school well.
