MSD & Misguided PR in Pantego TX Peloton rep says “water tanks vent steam and water”

2014 update…regarding Shea Kirkman (read further down this blog where he explains to a Pantego citizen concerned with emissions “that water tanks on the site release water vapor or steam and not pollutants.” )))))))))  !!!!! wrong oooo soooooo wrong to call high pressurized hydrocarbons that!

Mr Kirkman used to present the Carrizo cases to our City Council. And now that EnerVest bought them, he presents the Perr, Thornton, Fannin Farms and the Rolling Hills drill sites on behalf of Enervest. Rusty Ward now works for EnerVest-he previously worked for Carrizo after he got UTA to start drilling on their campus while he worked at UTA as VP of Business Affairs.

At the day session of our Arlington TX planning & Zoning meeting, an engineer that represents Carrizo and now EnerVest to present the drilling permits told me that “we are starting to see 20 yr old casings go bad”.  I would love for folk to feel free to interview/record him..he can be reached at 214-536-3971.

I have written about MSD’s once before at… https://barnettshalehell.wordpress.com/2012/10/08/chain-reaction-well-explosions-arlingtons-old-mineral-well-downtown-to-contemplate/Excerpts of interest in Pantego December 2012 town meetings regarding air and water quality risks http://www.townofpantego.com/DocumentCenter/View/2774

“7. Discuss, review, and consider any action on a proposed resolution in support of an application for Terracon Consultants Inc. to the Texas Commission Environmental Quality for a Municipal Setting Designation (MSD) for its property on 401 E. Division Street and 305 N. East Street Arlington, Tarrant County, Texas.

Public Works Director Ron Edwards informed Council that Terracon Consultants has requested a Municipal Setting Designation (MSD) for a property along Division Street in Arlington, TX.

…the property address is 401 E. Division Street and is approximately 2.5 miles from Pantego. The City of Arlington currently has 12 MSD sites approved by Texas Commission on Environment Quality with two in process. Mr. McDonald informed Council that the City of Arlington must focus on redevelopment of commercial property since the City of Arlington is nearly at full build out.

Mr. Sallman explained that the site and groundwater flow northeast, away from Pantego and only shallow groundwater is affected. Pantego’s wells draw 1,200 feet below the surface. The current owner will enter into the TCEQ Voluntary Closure Program. Mr. Sallman presented an image which showed the direction of flow and stated that this MSD does not effect Pantego’s water supply.Council discussed issues including the City of Arlington not holding prior property owners accountable, properties drawing contaminated water, consequences if the MSD is denied, changes to the resolution, and contamination barriers.

10. Public Hearing and consider any action on Zoning Cases Z-175 through Z-181, applications for amended gas well permits/special use permits to install a compressor unit and supporting infrastructure upon property located in Pantego, Tarrant County, Texas,…Shea Kirkman, 5751 Kroger Dr., Keller, TX 76244 – Mr. Kirkman represents Peloton and made a presentation regarding the current drill site and reiterated Town ordinance requirements including noise and aesthetics. He discussed Town regulations including noise and vibration levels and emissions and how Carrizo plans to address these issues including ambient noise studies. Hollie Visage, 2005 Melbourne, Pantego, TX 76013 – … inquired about issues including safety, venting, vibration, and Carrizo seeking waivers….Mr. Kirkman answered Ms. Visage’s question….and explained that water tanks on the site release water vapor or steam and not pollutants.”

UPDATE on the MSD on Division and East street…

I did an PIR because the city and state approved the MSD but the EPA still shows the cash out there on the Wilkerson properties…but the city responded that the cash was spent on finding out if there ever was any pollution…

“The funds from the Brownfields grant were only used for an assessment of the properties located at 401 E. Division Street and 305 N. East Street.  Per EPA, assessment funds cannot be used for cleanup of property.  The MSD certification granted through TCEQ restricts use of the groundwater as potable water.

Please contact me if you have any questions regarding this matter.

About Kim Triolo Feil

Since TX Statute 253.005 forbids drilling in heavily settled municipalities, I unsuccessfully ran for City Council Seat to try to enforce this. Since Urban Drilling, our drinking water has almost tripled for TTHM's. Before moving to Arlington in 1990, I lived in Norco’s “cancer alley”, a refinery town. It was only after Urban Drilling in Arlington did I start having health effects. After our drill site was established closest to my home, the chronic nosebleeds started. I know there are more canaries here in Arlington having reactions to our industrialized airshed (we have 55-60 padsites of gas wells). Come forward and report to me those having health issues especially if you live to the north/northwest of a drill site so I can map your health effects on this blog.
