Photos are of the UTArlington natural gas padsite on campus and next to neighborhoods. The two buildings on the site as pictured are electric compressor stations.

Questions to ask when the power goes out…..
1) How are all the drill sites, pipelines, compressor stations, procesing plants, and refineries doing?
2) If the waste hauling trucks cannot get to the storage tanks from over filling/spilling…the wells will auto shut in right?
3) And if the wells heads shut in from either freezing up or to prevent the storage tanks from spills, then will that cause a disruption to those power plants that use natural gas instead of coal?
5) If electricity powers any of these compressor engines, won’t they have an “upset” aka a toxic release to the airshed emission events?
6) Aren’t we soooo past dinosaur fossil fool fuels when we look at all the downed power lines from Mother Nature’s fits?*
7) Why can’t we just go off the the grid and use solar and wind because aren’t those inputs free?
8) And won’t getting us all hooked up to renewables create longer term jobs than drilling does?
9) Oh and isn’t the wind and sun non toxic and non-explosive to us if we tap, spill, spew, or ignite them?

Event: Extreme Weather
Area: North-America
Country: USA
State/County: State of Texas
Location: [Marfa, Valentine, Fort Davis and Marathon]Description:Icy winter conditions in West Texas have caused numerous power outages in areas served by AEP Texas. The areas hardest hit include Marfa, Valentine, Fort Davis and Marathon. AEP Texas is sending additional personnel to the area to help local crews with power restoration. More than 250 service and line technicians and support personnel are en route to assist. Additionally, 21 Transmission personnel are working in the Big Lake, Alamito Creek, Friend Ranch and Alpine areas. Icy conditions have downed power lines, cross arms and utility poles due to the increased weight that accumulates on the power lines. This morning nine substations were reported out of service.

HERE IS A RECENT REFINERY/PLANT emisson report of an “upset” in an emergency shutdown…

Lean reported from Exxon Chemical in Baton Rouge (near where my son goes to LSU)  DUE TO A TRIP OF THE NC01 COMPRESSOR, that resulted in an emergency shut down and  emissions went to a flare on Nov 20, 2013…generally flaring is not an urban acceptable process.

DUE TO A TRIP OF THE NC01 COMPRESSOR, SEVERAL MATERIALS ARE RELEASING TO THE FLARE. VOLUMES RELEASED:BUTADIENE 346 POUNDS,

BENZENE 307 POUNDS,

ETHYLENE 1340 POUNDS,

ISOPRENE 150 POUNDS,

NITRIC OXIDE 1477 POUNDS,

PROPYLENE 534 POUNDS,

SULFUR DIOXIDE 10874 POUNDS

About Kim Triolo Feil

Since TX Statute 253.005 forbids drilling in heavily settled municipalities, I unsuccessfully ran for City Council Seat to try to enforce this. Since Urban Drilling, our drinking water has almost tripled for TTHM's. Before moving to Arlington in 1990, I lived in Norco’s “cancer alley”, a refinery town. It was only after Urban Drilling in Arlington did I start having health effects. After our drill site was established closest to my home, the chronic nosebleeds started. I know there are more canaries here in Arlington having reactions to our industrialized airshed (we have 55-60 padsites of gas wells). Come forward and report to me those having health issues especially if you live to the north/northwest of a drill site so I can map your health effects on this blog. 1. Really no matter if someone doesn’t be aware of
then its up to other users that they will assist, so here it happens.
