UPDATE Garden of Eden suing the City of Arlington…read about it here…http://www.intothegardenofeden.com/uploads/5/2/8/6/52863945/july30-2015-goepressrelease.pdf
…sad to finalize this update on the decision……..
Judged GUILTY on all accounts. A most beautiful example of corruption, conspiracy, dishonor and pure ignorance.
We are still the only winners here today~*~”
update 2:53 cross examination of the code inspector is occurring now, it is apparent that Shellie is representing herself and doing a fine job. I sat in amazement at how we allowed our zoning ordinances to be made a joke of in allowing gas drilling near highly densely populated areas without a health and environmental impact study first and yet these people can be targeted (ie.. no one complained to the city) for issues of blight seem to pale in comparison here of whats “really” a threat to public health.
And while incriminating pictures of extension cords and such could represent a fire hazard (and I’m sure folks can relate to their own questionable extension chord applications in their own homes and are quite guilty too), BUT for the city to target these people on issues of blight is so pathetically ironic as I FEEL all bets are off on our laws to protect people when the city cannot follow their own zoning laws to keep dnagerous, t o x i c, industrialization OUT OF RESIDENTIAL areas is the spirit of my argument in my defense of Garden of Eden.
update 12:32 recessed for lunch til 1:30 – Garden of Eden sustainability living geru, Quinn Eaker, has been removed physically from the court for handling his cell phone although he reported to me that he was abiding by the “must be turned off rules”.
Just prior to the 5 min break GOE attorney was almost accosted by police by moving before the judge “officially” dismissed…I moved at the same time and didn’t have the police presence he received…hmmn
Here is the link to the public support invite. Jury selection is in process now and most likely the case will start at or after the one hour lunch break. Once the jury is selected, that will free up seating in case you want to attend today/soon at the Arlington Municipal Court 101 S Mesquite St, Arlington, TX 76010.
It is very upsetting that a peaceful group of people trying to live sustainably get harassed when they city drops toxic gaswells in our densely populated areas. If the Garden of Eden loses this court case, I vote that the $4,000 in back fines for ordinance violations could go into a kitty that funds the city (finally) buying an infrared camera so our gaswell inspectors can see the invisible gas leaks on those storage tanks like those near Lake Arlington.
I sure hope that Garden of Eden and other Kennedale ranchers take advantage of Tex Wells free water testing as last year I interviewed a Kennedale rancher who had a mysterious deer death and mentioned how his spring fed acquifer smelled explosive after the drilling came in.
SOLIDARITY to Garden of Eden and its occupants!
