Arlington time frame predicted of frackquake by Dale Henry… and more to come YA’LL

Kim & Ken Feil visit Mr & Mrs Henry in Lampass TX on May 9, 2014… and hits the record button when the subject matter turned to how the media gives the injection wells all the credit for the “frackquakes”

Please wait as 45 seconds into the video the audio improves.

WHO: Video of Dale Henry, retired Petroleum Engineer, who (unsuccessfully) ran for Railroad Commissioner four times. If you live in Texas you’d know that democrats don’t fair “well” in Texas oil & gas political positions.

WHAT: He compares* the PSI & injection rates of fluids that occur both for injection wells and for hydraulic fracturing. Click here for TxSharon’s RRC map of Arlington laterals.

WHEN: He claims there is a resulting seismic response time frame of 18-30 months after we inject into mother earth. For Arlington, it was Sept 7 2014 for a 2.4 earthquake.

WHERE: Arlington Gasland TX  3.1 miles shallow**.

WHY: This manmade concentration of energy gets stored in mother earth and she responsively burps out via seismic “events”….aka Frackquake.

ANY (more) QUESTIONS***?

*Here are my notes that I took from the video…
barrels per minute of injection wells = 2-3 bbl verses
barrels per minute during fracking = about 200 bbls
PSI for injection wells = 1,000-3,000 PSI verses
PSI during fracking = 10,000-20,000 PSI.
Time frame of energy storage before seismicity = 18-30 months or less.

**Note a shallow quake can be caused by natural water table fluctuations due to drought and rainy seasons.

***ANY (more) QUESTIONS? Yes I do…..

1) So why are some epicenters of some of these earthquakes near injection wells as this appears to make injection wells (not fracking) the main cause of our manmade seismic events?…. I suspect (and please weigh in on this folks) that the energy stored either from nearby fracking or injection wells cause the fault lines to give way “first” at the areas with the most stress ….which is near those heavy ass injection sites full of fluid. There is a study that the older the injection well the more volume it contains and therefore the more intense the quakes. There is also a study that says that what happens “here” (where injecting is occurring) can affect fault lines way over “there” (like in areas not having injection activities).

2) Why do we continue to risk all our water, sewer, NG pipes and well casings to seismic events when renewable energy (and jobs) are just waiting to be tapped?

Here is a video from 2011 of Mr Henry speaking on preventing water contamination from drilling….

About Kim Triolo Feil

Since TX Statute 253.005 forbids drilling in heavily settled municipalities, I unsuccessfully ran for City Council Seat to try to enforce this. Since Urban Drilling, our drinking water has almost tripled for TTHM's. Before moving to Arlington in 1990, I lived in Norco’s “cancer alley”, a refinery town. It was only after Urban Drilling in Arlington did I start having health effects. After our drill site was established closest to my home, the chronic nosebleeds started. I know there are more canaries here in Arlington having reactions to our industrialized airshed (we have 55-60 padsites of gas wells). Come forward and report to me those having health issues especially if you live to the north/northwest of a drill site so I can map your health effects on this blog. 1. Paul R says:

Injection wells which inject fluid into an existing fault are thought to sometimes lubricate the fault, or to open it as a result of hydraulic action. Often, high pressures or rates are present. Reducing injection results in a decrease in earthquakes over the next couple of months

I am not aware of any science that primary hydraulic fracturing either causes or induces earthquakes. Bear in mind that the very reason for the fracturing is that the formation is particularly solid. Earthquakes involve faults, not shales.
