The picture above is some of my husband’s friends that we normally spend New Years Eye with…namely the couple on the far right…the husband, Marty, who lives in Midlothian TX (ground zero to some nasty cement kilns) was defending the company owning the cement kilns “right” to not HAVE to use/buy scrubbers cause it could cost jobs and be unfair in competing with other cement kiln companies (like who is their competition anyway?).
It was then that I admitted to Marty that I testified to the EPA about their young child, Jacob, that died of SIDs almost two decades ago. I told Marty that scrubbers are important and that no one will ever know if Jacob would be alive today if they would’ve used proper scrubbers. This naturally upset him and now I am literally de-friended.
Seeing this New Years Eve picture without having being invited is proof of things you lose in the shale besides your health, peace of mind, property values, etc. I submitted this picture as proof to the people that I interviewed with who are making a documentary on the subject of emotional impacts in living in the shale.
My husband testified too and spoke of cancer risk…..
How ironic that six months later he himself would have to endure chemo & radiation treatments.
Here is my “Jacob” testimony that cost me and my husband our friends…
If YOU want to make your voice heard on the air quality YOU breathe, come to City Hall 101 W Abram St in Arlington TX January 15, 2015 at 6:30 pm to tell the TCEQ they need to do more to cut ozone.
I now have this clarity that any people that I “offend” while fighting pollution that do not grasp the love I have for human life are therefore not worth having as friends anyway.
