Hey Chamber your ADVERTISEMENT on Facebook & Twitter has a misleading HEADLINE “…Hydraulic Fracturing is NO threat to drinking water”.
Chamber writer, Sean Hackbarth, conveniently quoted an Energy in Depth spokesperson who is paid to be biased in being sponsored by the oil & gas associations.
Sean didn’t bother to interview for balanced reporting so here is the OTHER HALF from Texas Sharon…. “One of the most important parts of the original study was to be “forward looking studies”: tests of wells before and after fracking to determine if it polluted area drinking water. These forward looking studies were ultimately dropped because industry refused to cooperate.
“Industry data and independent studies tell us that 1 – 6% of unconventional fracked wells fail immediately, meaning tens of thousands of failed wells litter our country. Despite industry’s obstruction, EPA found that fracking pollutes water in a number of ways. That’s why industry didn’t cooperate, they know fracking is an inherently risky, dirty process that doesn’t bear close, independent examination.”
TISK TISK TISK
Misleading headline, paid energy shrill…Mr. Sean Hackbarth’s writing lacks credibility….now WHY would he do that?…
I KNOW….its political…
CNN reported of Reed (Chamber political team leader) says, “we are not here to exist and sit in a corner office and philosophize about what could have been. We are here to do politics.”
This isn’t the first time I’ve see the Chamber behave this way…at the local level here in Arlington TX they’ve been polluted too. Here is a letter to our City Council asking them not to charge a per well fee to fund our ER response efforts to gas well incidents in our neighborhoods…..
As a blogger…we have a duty NOT to spew lies….Hackbarth needs to get his story headliner LIE out of social media.
In the end Sean needs to realize that commerce is driven by people who need to be healthy. He also forgot to mention the EPA dropped the air quality and health risks near fracking portion of the study.
Drilling near people pollutes their air…why doesn’t he write about that?…oh I know…..its political…….
that breathing thing.
