The Denton Record Chronicle had a guest news article touting how much money has gone to help children at for example Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas……
that is worthy of a blog shout out to the author. My upgraded comments in response to this article are as follows….
“….other common drilling annoyances” ? Don’t forget that other common drilling annoyances such as storm water run off of padsites into our drinking water supplies increase the “load” of disinfectants needed to treat drinking water. But then again, you can’t treat what for what you don’t know what to look for. (Frac Focus chemicals have some concoctions that are secret). Recall when the pharmaceuticals were detected in Arlington’s tap water? Just because our screening measures pass muster with the state doesn’t mean we’ve targeted constituents that can harm us later on when we slap our hand over our forehead and say “we should’ve known better”. Ask the Flint Michigan residents with children recently poisoned by lead in the drinking water. Now now that the damage is done, they regret ever having lived there. Their precious, young developing children’s bodies are forever harmed by those who had a political agenda to “save money” (or in HB40’s Urban Drilling case “make” money). Read here (scroll to the **) about the Denton fracking water run off study that contributed to the 2011 Lake Arlington Master Plan to protect it’s water. https://barnettshalehell.wordpress.com/2015/12/12/arlington-sendn-50m-drilling-money-not-to-safer-drinking-water-protection-plan/
Their premise in looking at the Denton water study to calculate that drill sites only increase the “load on water needing to be treated” for only four months when the site is most active (they don’t account for well work overs or the on-going maintenance or when new wells get added?). So why is the “load” an issue? Total Trihalomethanes are unwanted, federally regulated C A R C I N O G E N I C by-products in having to add too much disinfectants to treat polluted water. HB40 ensures the “load” is carried by pregnant women, developing fetuses, children, & the elderly – first.
HB40 serves to increase medical bills to treat thing$ like bladder cancer, asthma, & leukemia...but hey my royalty check is more important?...Scottish Rite needs to have a clientele, and HB40 aims to be the gift (of cliental) that keeps on giving!
