Action item: Artificial Lift (Viagra Congress) 3/2016 request Catalytic Converters as standard

horsey says to the frackers “please use Best Available Control Technologies with your artificial lift to control air pollution”

We need folks to contact the corporations who will have representatives leading in the “Viagra Congress” and ask for condoms/catalytic converters on these lift compressors, thanks. Here is a sample letter I used….and below are the contacts, thanks.

ATTN (Chevron) XXXX Corporate Responsibility Department:

(Gabriel Diaz Well Reliability & Optimization Technology Team Lead) XXXX will be presenting at The Artificial Lift Optimization North America Congress 2016 taking place in Houston, Texas on March 22-23, 2016. In day two “Producing Onsite Power To Reduce The Reliance On Grid Power” will be the final topic. My request since I live near Urban Drilling, is to have you suggest catalytic converters be standard operating equipment because it is currently not mandated and it sounds like the idea is to be connecting to dirty, unprocessed, field gas.

Combustion from lift compressors creates particulates, formaldehyde, and degrades air quality. Combustion by products worsen ozone forming constituents into my family’s immediate airshed.

Ideally, the compressor planned maintenance blowdowns should require that the residual gas be directed to the storage tanks and not released directly into the atmosphere.  This would be beneficial where storage tanks are equipped with vapor recovery devices. In Urban Drilling here in north Texas, sadly the typical well pad does not require such emission control devices, yet they put padsites in our backyards.

Such voluntary gestures will go a long way and can be PR brag spot. Please communicate your willingness and please do not say it is an avoidable expense as you cannot put a price tag on good will and clean air, thank you.

Sincerely,

Feel free to contact your representatives and ask them to create laws to mandate Best Available Control Emission Devices especially in Urban Drilling areas which already have higher pollution levels.

About Kim Triolo Feil

Since TX Statute 253.005 forbids drilling in heavily settled municipalities, I unsuccessfully ran for City Council Seat to try to enforce this. Since Urban Drilling, our drinking water has almost tripled for TTHM's. Before moving to Arlington in 1990, I lived in Norco’s “cancer alley”, a refinery town. It was only after Urban Drilling in Arlington did I start having health effects. After our drill site was established closest to my home, the chronic nosebleeds started. I know there are more canaries here in Arlington having reactions to our industrialized airshed (we have 55-60 padsites of gas wells). Come forward and report to me those having health issues especially if you live to the north/northwest of a drill site so I can map your health effects on this blog.
