Last night I witnessed an exchange between a 20 year old verses a 73 year old debating who to vote for WHEN Bernie and Trump’s names land on the presidential ballot in November. (I say “when” if public sentiment stays on this track). Because the “wise” senior went there and used the “Communism” word…I had to respond with my GREENIE view.
BTW as a 53 year old, I’m supposed to be in the (post) baby boomer category that supports Hillary…(FYI I was enlightened to switch from being a “Repub” years ago when UN conventional drilling (fracking) jolted me into participating in the political process).
This link, http://www.diffen.com/difference/Communism_vs_Socialism, had a statement that caught my attention as THE most convincing piece of why BIG CORPORATIONS and their employees should participate in funding health and education efforts for “democratic socialism”…..
WE share a common planet. Raping it competing (stock market) for limited natural resources (mining, wood, water use etc…) and polluting the environment in the process deserves “BERNified Equity”. If we are to be made to live on a polluted planet, we should share in both the positive and negatives of human consumption from capitalism’s bounty.
That the 1% have insane amounts of income is where the 99% MUST draw the line.
In other words….
“your right to make my environment UN inhabitable,
starve me with UN liveable wages,
force me to buy UN affordable healthcare,
or land me with UN reasonable decades worth of college debt
with a vote for B E R N I E !”
Democratic Socialism …a nasty word…NOT if you like:
40 hr work week limit before overtime kicks in,
the idea of a minimum wage….
and remember that the “new deal” dealt with having:
social security taxes, &
On the flip side, 27% of our tax dollars goes to BIG GOV to fund war, yet the military (also big oil & gas) rely on ‘our’ socialism (taxes) to support them!
Too big to fail should NEVER mean “rely on US to bail them out” because remember democratic socialism is a nasty word…(note sarcasm).
