update 3/9/16 In this video coverage, days leading up to his death that the company that he borrowed from (Energy Minerals Group) all but cut ties with him leaving the future of American Energy Partners in question and that his out of the country quests were failing due to the slump in oil & gas pricing. And an internet conversations included this tidbit….“He was facing ten counts. Each count carried a max of 10 years in prison and or a million dollar fine.”
update 3/4/16…audio of 911 calls here and I just read that the Feds have moved to drop the fiery indictment case against Aubrey McClendon by reason of “defendant deceased”.
I am bold facing for emphasis with my comments in (parenthesis) on key words I disagree with in the company & McClendon’s (final) statement a day after his indictment.
I was shocked to learn he probably took his own life & I have pity for the family…but the spokespeople from AELP (obviously in shock too) have to learn when to admit…all was not well with this man.
A statement from American Energy Partners read….
“It is with deep sadness that AELP confirms that earlier today, its founder, Aubrey K. McClendon died in a car accident (alleged SUICIDE or medical episode) on Midwest Boulevard in Oklahoma City. Aubrey’s tremendous leadership, vision (for racking up debt), and passion for the energy industry (flipping properties) had an impact on the community (like Arlington GASLAND Texas), the country, and the world. We are tremendously proud of his legacy (albeit tainted) and will continue to work hard to live up to the unmatched standards he set for excellence and integrity (disagree… he was silent & unresponsive to the people he harmed with drilling too near to). We will deeply mourn his loss and please join us in expressing our condolences to his family,”
Mr McClendon (dRIP) posted a response to his indictment as follows….
Aubrey K. McClendon And His Counsel Respond To Department Of Justice Conspiracy Indictment
OKLAHOMA CITY, March 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Aubrey K. McClendon responded to today’s filing of a single charge of an antitrust conspiracy with the following statement: “The charge that has been filed against me today is wrong and unprecedented. I have been singled out as the only person in the oil and gas industry in over 110 years since the Sherman Act became law to have been accused of this crime in relation to joint bidding on leasehold. Anyone who knows me, my business record (which is unprecedented in acquiring land and debt and human suffering where drilling has taken place in too close proximity) and the industry in which I have worked for 35 years, knows that I could not be guilty of violating any antitrust laws (Oh really?). All my life I have worked to create jobs in (healthcare response to shale syndrome, fixing home’s foundations in frackquake zones, environmental clean up, worsening climate catastrophe clean up-loss of jobs etc..) Oklahoma, grow its economy (and risked bankruptcy to his former company-Chesapeake), and to provide abundant (drove the whole industry pricing down with greed of glut drilling) and affordable energy (folks contend that amid all the fracking, their heating energy bills did not decrease) to all Americans. I am proud of my track record in this industry, and I will fight (no you did not even try) to prove my innocence and to clear my name (your fracking kill pill will be what the folks on The List of the Harmed will forever remember you by).“
The night before he died I gleefully posted this picture admitting I held on to this for years waiting for this occasion…now he takes “that” from me….did he get the last laugh?….no he did not because….
his contribution to the shale build out in my town,
in my neighborhood (and in the world) has not yet seen the full fruition of drilling using an unproven safe method to expensively and environmentally harmfully extract yet another dirty fossil fuel….
McClendon’s Chesapeake contribution to methane leaks have done more harm now to worsen our global warming plight…dRIP Aubrey McClendon
