Critical oilfield water monitoring alternative
An alternative to current oilfield water monitoring: THE RETEGO method, delivers fast, reliable on-site contaminant measurement within 1 to 3 min — without specialized training or liquid reagent handling. Results are digital for instant distribution. In direct contrast to existing on-site test kits and instrumentation for municipal and well water, RETEGO methodology is specifically designed for use in wide ranging salinity and complexity of wastewater common in oilfield applications.

At last nights citizen town hall meeting regarding the budget, after the nicely done video the speaker before me, Richard Weber, asked about the insurance/raises for employees. Our City Manager, Trey Yelverton, responded to him in depth.

Next (and last) I spoke, Trey merely thanked me for my comments, opened the floor for other citizens to speak, and then turned the meeting over to Councilwoman Wilemon who promptly adjourned the meeting.

This is my fourth year asking our City of Arlington officials to budget for equipment appropriate for our experimental “urban drilling”.

The first two/three years I asked for First Detect Spectrometers.

The last two years I’ve asked for Infrared cameras and for our (PID) Photo Ionization Detectors to be sensitive to parts per billion. Sadly in May 2012, PID’s were used in Louisiana near LSU and failed to detect dangers of emissions wafting off of 28,000 pounds of spilled Benzene.

I hate it when I’m right.

Last year I asked for water dept. resources to ramp up testing. Sadly this year I’ve asked for money to be spent notifying Arlington private water well owners to be in the loop of what was uncovered by the UTA Tex Well Water Study results that could directly affect their water wells.

I hate it when I’m right.

This year I’ve added that we need to budget for an auditor to review TCEQ air permits and find out which drill sites and compressor stations are NOT using Best Available Control Technologies for fugitive emissions.

I hate it when I’m ignored…it isn’t good for public health.

…well this public comment is now on public record isn’t it?

About Kim Triolo Feil

Since TX Statute 253.005 forbids drilling in heavily settled municipalities, I unsuccessfully ran for City Council Seat to try to enforce this. Since Urban Drilling, our drinking water has almost tripled for TTHM's. Before moving to Arlington in 1990, I lived in Norco’s “cancer alley”, a refinery town. It was only after Urban Drilling in Arlington did I start having health effects. After our drill site was established closest to my home, the chronic nosebleeds started. I know there are more canaries here in Arlington having reactions to our industrialized airshed (we have 55-60 padsites of gas wells). Come forward and report to me those having health issues especially if you live to the north/northwest of a drill site so I can map your health effects on this blog.
